Spanish/Portuguese Astrolabe 1588 - The mariner's astrolabe has been developed by Arabic astronomers. Christopho Columbo used a similar astrolab design on his voyages to discover the "New World". It was a simplified version of an instrument for measuring the height of stars and the sun above the horizon level.

Oceans Discovery together with all its partners, associates and sponsors are committed to the preservation of our shared marine heritage. Underwater heritage preservation has become an immensly important issue considering that world-wide, on a daily basis, priceless artefacts are being lifted to be sold to private collectors thus depriving the public of its heritage and possibly the means of economic gains through subsequent cultural tourism projects.

Every effort has to be undertaken to document and preserve shipwrecks before scavengers, ignorant divers and ruthless salvaging companies destroy those irreplaceable relicts of our common maritime heritage. Our hopes are to establish, together with local governments, a series of Marine Heritage Parks around discovered wreck sites in order to create the means for educational studies and "in situ" preservation. Archaeologists, historians, students, volunteers and visiting tourist divers could utilize these parks as “underwater classrooms/museums”.

Associated Dive Bases

Doing extensive underwater film work on various islands is difficult enough considering all the new air-travel restrictions in regards to carrying cameras and other sensitive equipment. But even more important is to find dive bases, which not only have the capacity but also show the willingness to work with a film team. There are all kinds of issues, like having sufficient space on the boat for the rather large and heavy cameras and light equipment, safety divers etc. In addition, the timely preparations for a dive and the sometimes lengthy procedures getting all the equipment in and out of the water do put strains to the patience of the dive boat operators and their staff. However, there are occasions when our team feels welcome and totally comfortable, just getting along fine with everyone, down to making good friends over time.
Below you will find two outstanding examples of very professionally operated dive bases, which we can only recommend.

Sponsorship opportunities

Our productions and expeditions present an excellent advertising opportunity for any sponsor. The many exciting projects, which we are constantley developing can very easily provide the means for all kinds of marketing ploys. Subjects like exploration, adventure, history, exotic locations and education are the key ingredients to create meaningful product/brand associations, which are the backbone of every successful promotion or advertising campaign. High exposure and significant PR-coverage are guaranteed through press releases, interviews, magazine articles, TV and website coverage. The entire expedition set up, the team of explorers, scientists, ongoing filming activities, the beauty of sailing vessels, camp fire romantic set in lush tropical surroundings, beautiful white sand beaches, scuba diving in areas with incredible underwater visibility and land excursions to hidden caves, will set the stage for any kind of promotion dealing with the exotic, adventure, education and the fun. Our projects represent a unique opportunity for any company or individual to make an important difference in the defense of threatened and irreplacable cultural artifacts underwater and the preservation of marine life.
We offer affiliate and sponsorship relationships to leading corporations, organizations and private companies who share our concerns for our common marine heritage.
