ABOUT MARES
Mares was founded by Ludovico Mares more than 50 years ago in Rapallo. From the beginning on Ludovico Mares had a clear idea about his aims: the production of high-quality diving equipment for beginners and professional divers.
Today mares produces quality and safety with modern machines and the help of the mares-team. The employees always try to create innovative, new products and improve the existing products.


 



DIVING DIVISION
The diving division has two brands Mares and Dacor with a strong heritage among diving enthusiasts. With Mares, we have the world’s leading diving brand. We offer a complete range of products under each brand, making us unique in the diving industry. Diving products are highly technical and we are perceived as the diving indutry’s innovation and technoligy leader. We have introduced many revoltionary new products such as plastic fins, underwater guns and high performance regulators. In late 1999, we launched the H.U.B. (human underwater breathing system) which combined five previously separate items, including buoyancy vest and regulator, into one unit. The H.U.B. system was awarded “Product of the Year” at the Antibes World Diving Festival.
Most free diving records including those set by Francisco “Pipin” Ferreras and Gianluea Genoni have been set using Mares equipment. For the past three years, Mares has been awarder “Brand of the Year” by “Divers” magazine.


 

MARES is consistently providing all the necessary diving equipment for our filming expeditions. During the "Search for Morgan Expedition" the team has been testing the newly developed H.U.B. integrated diving system thoroughly. It proved to be ideal for diving on and in wrecks, along coral reefs lying in particularly shallow water allowing the diver to work comfortably under extreme conditions.
